I believe you can fly!
Don’t be intimidated. It is not as scary as you think.
In preparing for your aerial class, you should wear leggings or clothing that fits and not too much extra fabric. Avoid eating right before the class if possible. If you have a tendency to get dizzy, you may want to have some ginger on hand (I will always have some at the studio if you don’t). To begin we use a mat, there is a yoga swing with three different lengths of easy to grip handles for you to fly like a bird. Learn to trust yourself, the swing will hold you. We will start low to the ground, get our stretch on, gain some traction of the spine, explore some pigeon and warrior poses, and then make our way gradually to some “elevated” fun. We will practice some inversions in the practice where the heart is above the head which may be easier for you on the swing, then on the mat. You might be pleasantly surprised at your skills and still remember to trust the swing and follow instructions. Releasing tension in the spine, gaining flexibility and strength, enhancing mood and improved lymphatic flow are some of the benefits you can receive. You will feel awakened by this fun and fantastic new experience and reminded of swinging wild and free like a kid again.
Classes will be added to our schedule as needed but you can always schedule a group aerial outside of class times for $25 per person with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 9. Aerial yoga is not recommended for pregnant women and people with high blood pressure. Inversions (going upside down, heart above head) are supposed to be avoided by menstruating women as well. If you have motion sickness we can take it slow and give other options for floating poses allowing one foot on the ground to feel connected to the earth.
See you on the swing!
